I was on a BES... my pw was 4 letters and never needed changing

Now I am a BIS... minimum is 5 characters and it expires and I need to make a new one every week?

Is that correct?

I've never had to make a new one in three years to access my BIS.

I dont mean the BIS... sorry,

I meant the device password... when i lock the phone and unlock i enter my pw (which has to be min 5 characters)

And after a week it says "password expired, please create a new one"

I wonder if its bc there is an IT policy that cingular never removed??? I'm waiting for my replacement to replace this replacement!!!

You can check under >Options >Security Settings >General Settings. Scroll to the bottom. If there is any reference to IT policy then it has one. You won't know what the policy is but you'll know if it's there.

this i know... but there is nothing there.

BUT

Alot of my apps tell me "app name has attemped to open a location inside and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy"

I have no policy on my 8700 (removed using instructions on the forums) but I'm getting this prompt every week as well.

Never happened while on BES before

I am also having the same issue. I removed the policy via the instructions on here, and now my password says it is expiring every week.
