Is Verizon going to pull the 7130 model?

Hi All. Since Cingular recently pulled the plug on the 7130 model, is Verizon also going to pull it? I like this model and it's still available at my local Verizon store, but I don't want to buy it, if they plan on pulling it or RIM ins't going to making it any more. Let me know.

Why not? Even if they were to pull it today the devices currently deployed would be supported. The only reason it would make any difference to you is if it broke some time during the warranty period (1 year after purchase) and they didn't have one to replace it with.

The 7130 is a great model. I just handed one down to my wife and picked up the 8703. I'm still not sure I don't want my old phone back. I would say go for it.

Cingular has another suretype model (8100) for customers. Verizon Wireless does not....

In addition, Verizon will not have an alternative to the 7130 for some time (unless all leaked info about the 88/8900 has been 100% wrong to date), so it's likely to retain the old model until it's prepared to replace it.

In the case where you need a warranty exchange of the 7130, Verizon almost always replaces a unit with a refurb, but if their refurb inventory has been exhausted, they would likely make the offer to the next available model in procession, being 'substantially equivalent'.
