PLEASE HELP,
Can you tell me what I need to do here? My 7280 says emergency calls only when I try to use the phone. Incoming calls go to vmail.
I am a cingular customer (sucker) the device is cingular. I have an active sim card that works on other phones.

Sounds to me like the device may be locked - OR it has an IT Policy on it to prevent all non emergency calls. Is this a used device?

And--has that SIM card worked in that phone before? Make sure its in all the way, no dirty contacts on the SIM card or the phone.

Great. Does it have an IT Policy on it? Look in Options / Security.
Was it used?

Well, it's bad for you, because it's probably preventing you from using the Blackberry the way you want to.
There's plenty of discussions here about removing IT policies. Just search around and you'll find more info.

Maybe ask you mother if she can have her BES admin at her job (or wherever she got the Blackberry from) for assistance in removing the IT policy.
