Hey, I'm a new fan of the BlackBerry and I'm going to be purchasing my first one next week. I don't understand the Cingular plans for BlackBerries and how they work. I'm looking for a plan that will allow me to use the e-mail, gps, internet and have minutes. Can someone post me a detail of the plans with vocie minutes / amount per month? I only see plans that show me the text messaging and such but no voice minutes. Thank You!

I don't have the different plans in front of me. But the following is my Cingular plan:

39.99 for 450 anytime minutes
+ 5,000 N/W
+ Unlimited M2M

29.99 Unlimited BB Plan
-5.99 for having a 39.99+ voice plan
24.99

9.99 for 1,000 text messages

The voice and text plan is separate from the BB plan. That is why you don't seem them listed together. Select a voice plan, then a BB plan, and then a text plan.

Does the cingular BB plan include unlimited data?

Yes, my particular plan is the Personal BIS plan. Unlimited data.

This is great. I was actually about to ask the same question. The way it is set up on the website is a bit confusing. Or maybe I'm just a little stupid. Thanks VanillaEps!

Does the cingular BB plan include unlimited data?
Depends on the one you choose. The 4MB data plan is, well, limited to 4MB/month. Other plans are unlimited.

Are you sure about the plan? I thought they were 44.99 and 34.99, less 5.00 for having a voice plan. At least that is what mine is.

You are right, it's not 24.99, unless you're me and get a discount through my job :)

But otherwise its $34.99 without a voice plan, $29.99 with a voice plan.

BIS is what you want for personal use, unlimited data and personal email.

I am like you. My discounts don't show up on that screen. ;-)

I wasn't aware that the cingular BB's included GPS (other than for 911). I know that the 7520 (Nextel) does and I believe that Sprint 8700 does as well.

Also, I haven't tried it, but blackberry messenger claims it doesn't work on cingular. just FYI and something to double check.

Cingular does not have built in GPS(except new 8800 so they say). If you want to use gps you'll need to buy an external gps puck and paid subscription(telenav etc...).

BB Messenger does work if Cingular is your provider.

It doesn't say that BBM doesn't work on Cingular, it says (and I'm cutting-and-pasting):

Attention Cingular Wireless Customers: Cingular Wireless does not support BlackBerry Messenger at this time.

"Doesn't work" and "is not supported" are two different things. ;)

I (and many other Cingular customers) have been using BBM for a long, long time.

Isn't there a $39.99 BB + 1,000 text option now?

I have a Family Talk plan for voice. Then I have the $30 unlimited BIS. And after that I have the $19.99 Messaging Extreme package. This stupid phone is expensive, but you do what you gotta do to feed the need. ;)

Yes, there is a BIS-only Blackberry Max data plan that includes 1000 SMS for $10 more than the standard BIS-only plan. I don't recall Cingular's code for the plan though and quite a few CSR's are apparently unaware of it. I think a search on "Blackberry Max" shoud yield something...

That's exactly the plan I am talking about. I pay 29.99 for BIS, before discount, and an additional 9.99 for 1,000 SMS.

Well, you have the grandfathered version. Cingular no longer offers a stand alone 1k message package. I had that initially when I switched to the BB in May and then had to switch two months later and that package was no longer available. Then they created this BB Max plan which is a $39.99 price point with messaging included...1k a month.
I know, it's semantics, but technically they're different. :)

What is the BB Max plan..I have the 39.99/monthly plan with the 29.99 BB Bis Unl plan. By the time you add taxes on to it..it comes to 100/month.

The BB Max plan is the unlimited BIS data plus 1k messages a month in a single bundle. You still have to have a separate voice plan if you want to talk on your BlackBerry.

anyone figure out what the code is for this Max plan? I signed up tonight and the guy added "XM wBBunl Pool". Then later I called 611 with a few more questions, and the lady there said it was setup wrong so it now shows "BBRYUNL_ALL4" - no idea what it is. I searched and saw two other codes: BBRYBISUNL and DBB6.

Any help?

To add Blackberry unlimited personal plan, cost is $29.99 when you add to a regular Cingular voice plan.

You can use the BB Messenger with Cingular, but they don't support it if you call their technical support... at least that was my experience about 6 months ago. BB Messenger does work well with both my 8700c and 8800, both on Cingular.
