I'm trying to add the Telenav app to my new 8703e and the BB Desktop Manager looks for only .alx and .axi extensions -- but the download from Telenav is a .jad. What am I missing here? Thanks in advance.

You need to use the BB Browser to browse to and install TeleNav.

Thanks John -- I also tried using the 8703 browser to access the Telenav link provided in their email (ota.telenav.com/ota/tn) and then I selected 'Verizon'. I received a HTTP Error 406: Not Acceptable. The page you are trying to load is not supported by the browser...
Hmmm...

Pay close attention to the link as it's case sensitive. Are you typing it exactly as it was provided to you?

should be this OTA link: TeleNav (http://ota.telenav.com/ota/tn)

I actually clicked the hyperlink provided in the email from Telenav. I found the site and presented me with a list of four differents carriers -- I chose Verizon, and when I clicked again, it responded with the 406 message. Thanks.

Change the emulation mode in your browswer to BB and see if that works.

The only browser setting I see is Options/Advance/Browser/ where the default and the default MDS browser configs are set. They are both set to Internet Browser. The other choice is (MyCompany) Browser. Am I looking in the right place?

Because there are different 8703e and 7130e TeleNav builds for the different North American carriers due to RIM handheld code differences requested by the carriers:
For Verizon, use http: //ota.telenav. com/ota/vz
For Sprint/Nextel, use http: //ota.telenav. com/ota/sn
For Alltel, use http: //ota.telenav. com/al

For Alltel, that is AL in lower case. (sorry about the extra spaces in the URLs, but the forum is eating them up otherwise)

These links are for direct load into the BlackBerry using the BlackBerry browser. Launch the browser, and find the 'go to URL' option in the trackwheel menu. Your success may be less with carrier-specific browsers.

The browser knows what to do with the .jad file and its associated .cod files. There is no .alx in the OTA distribution.

Telenav requires a separate Bluetooth GPS receiver (for Verizon 8303e customers).

Thanks all for you responses! (and apologies for my late reply - have been a bit under the weather...)

Seems that the issue is the IT Policy on the BES. I'll be speaking to the BES admin soon to request permission to put Telenav on my 8703e. Wish me luck...

Visit telenav.com/support, and follow the Sprint/Nextel download links. Pick your model, and you'll be led to the .alx and .cod files for the device.
