I know some people experienced memory leak with earlier OS vsns with the Pearl and I am just curious if any 8800 users have kept an eye on their memory and noticed if the 8800 has a memory leak issue at all or is everything okay?

How would you check something like this.
I hear everyone saying the OS is so much faster but everytime I switch between APPS I see an hourglass and the scrolling of the Pearl feels sluggish *shrug*

I've only had my 8800 for two days but I don't think I'm having any mem leak issues. I have 27.7 free after a hard reset and then it drops to about 27.3 after some usage but hasn't continued to drop. My 8700c drops 2.5 to 3 megs in the first few hours after a batt pull.

Mine does keep dropping but is there a fix for it, or will it really matter?

The lowest mine has got was 27.3 from the day I owned it. I admit that I have not installed any new programs or music. My 8800 does seem to recover and is not leaking! Maybe it was fixed.

Periodically check available memory and see if it keeps creeping down to 0.

If it creeps down to zero, he won't be able to check it. ;)

Holy ****. Even the 8800? I had the 8800 for a few days, but was okay. I exchanged the 8800 for a Pearl due to smaller size, but this leak issue starts in about 2 weeks. How long have you owned yours?

What 3rd party apps are you using on your BB? How many ringtones, pics and videos? You had another post in another thread where you said you were down to around 5Mb. And after a reset you were up to 15Mb. That is your problem. 15Mb is getting down there.

There are some other threads outlining how to increase memory. That's the direction you need to head.

After receiving my 8800 and loading up 3rd party apps I had roughly 25MB or so of free onboard memory after a reboot it showed just under 28MB. My handheld never seems to dip below 26MB of free space and I've used it extensively since I've had it and I have quite a bit of email sitting on the device and I have also added a couple more games and some ringtones. It seems to be very stable. I'm really glad I bought the 8800!!!
