No, it synchronizes Calendar, Notes, Tasks and Contacts. E-Mail is never synced. E-Mail is forwarded to the BlackBerry via BES, BIS or Desktop Redirector...

BIS = BlackBerry Internet Service, what most personal BB user have.

BES = BlackBerry Enterprise Service, what most corporate BB have. With such, you can reconcile and synch mail.

Also, with BES you get wireless sync of calendar, notes, tasks and contacts.

thanks for the reply,

i suppose BIS is for personal email use and BES is for corporate email use

we recently started getting wireless sync of calender, contacts, right after we have got this version which needs the password to be keyed in eveery 10 minutes (is there a connection)

does thie mean we were on BIS and we have migrated to BES?

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

A required password every so often and the wireless calendar and conctact syncing is a very high indicator that you are on BES.

and the absence would be an indicator that i was on BIS previously?

That, or the previous absence of that IT policy on the BES setup.
All you need to do is go to Options, Security, General Settings: see what is listed under Services at the bottom.

what does the wipe held option do?

Wipe clears your handheld of all (most) personal data in the mail, calendar, tasks, and address book apps.

so it is like a mini-format

and should never be used :)
