Didn't find this mentioned by someone else but was wondering if anyone else had this problem. Today, I went out of the coverage area and the phone just showed a message where I usually see T-Mobile. It said something along the lines of "Out of Service Area" or to that effect. No problem, I knew I was in an area with poor coverage. The problem, however, is that once I returned to an area with coverage, the phone did not pick it up. I had to force wireless off and then back on. Once I did that, it picked up the signal and everything was back again. Wondering if anyone else had experienced this problem. I'm using a 7100t with OS v4
Thanks

You are not alone. Same thing happens even when I am in an area with coverage, but the signal is dropped. I need to turn the phone off and on to get signal (which I guess has a similar effect as turning wireless on and off).

I just wasn't expecting this kind of behavior from a BlackBerry. Any idea if RIM is aware of this and if they are going to fix it, or do we just have to learn to live with it?

I have the same problem with my 7100t, and the thing is, when I check through
Tools -> Settings -> Status
I see that I have a decent signal at about -68dBm. This is when I'm inside my office building. And I also notice that when I walk out, where there is a good signal, it take a while for the 7100t to get back on the network (about 5-10 minutes) without having to power cycle the phone.
I did not have this problem with my SE T610 or even a Treo 180. I'm on T-Mobile as well.

We are having this problem with several Cingular 7100g and 7290 models. I met with Cingular yesterday and am awaiting a response. Sounds like a device issue but try telling senior executives they have to "re-boot their phones".

Seems to be occurring on an almost daily basis now for me and it's getting a bit frustrating. Throughout the day, I'm routinely in places where I know there is no coverage. I don't know if that is triggering this to happen but it's not what I expected from a device with a reputation of reliability like a BB.
