memory leak, worst case scenario ?

what does the memory leakage problem with the 8100 mean? *what is the worst case scenario?* and are there any suggested ways to minimize this problem? i am aware of the need for rebooting and/or using soft-reset software. is the the biggest worst aspect? does this involve losing data or larger problems? does it affect the amount of applications you may install or some function of the unit? thanks!

worst case scenario I have heard is that your BB will autodelete phone logs, and some emails to free the space it needs to bring in the new messages.
