7130c OS Question?

I am using a BlackBerry 7130c using V4.1.0.321 and my BlackBerry Desktop manager Version 4.1.1.9 Feb 24 2006. I was wondering if I updated to a newer OS will I lose all my 3rd party software and will my calendar, tasks and notes all be lost? If that is so how can I back up my calendar, tasks and notes? I am still pretty new to the BB experience. Thanks

The first step of the upgrade process (controlled via Desktop Manager) is to do a backup. The last is to do a restore. Applications which do not have their data backed up, like BB Weather, will not run properly. The application will come over, but the data won't. PIN data is fine.

You can also do a specific Backup in Desktop Manager just to be sure.
