This may be the wrong forumn, but I have 2 bb 7290's. I updated the platform and software in one bb last week with no problems because I knew who the service with the phone was with. However I just purchased another bb from a retailer that was refurbished. How do I update the software on the bb and not know who the previous carriers was. The bb came unlocked.

Please help.

Often you'll find it under the battery on the device for the model #, not sure about the 7290, could be there too. Then compare model #s with what the carriers have.

Doesn't really matter who the carrier is. You can load the same OS you loaded on the other one. Just delete the vendor.xml located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader. Once you delete that file, then plug in the BB and open Desktop Manager. It should prompt you to upgrade. Deleting the vendor.xml simply tells Desktop Manager to load the OS on any brand BB.
