Hi,

New Blackberry user here. I switched from Verizon to T-Mobile (US) about 2 months ago and after about a month of getting sick of the free RAZR, I traded it in for a pearl with the $19.99/mo BIS add-on. My roommate also has T-Mobile, with the Dash, and has the T-MobileWeb add-on for $5.99/mo. He doesn't get push email but he can apparently run 3rd party apps (e.g. google services) and do all the same web browsing that I can. If I'm willing to give up the push email (which I'm only using for gmail anyway), would the T-MobileWeb provide the same service to my BB that he's getting with his dash? Or is BIS the bare minimum for BBs?

Thanks

I'd be surprised if his $5.99/mo service continues to work for much longer. Lot of action on HowardForums.com and blogs about T-Mobile starting to require the $29.99/mo Internet plan for that.

A lot of those people running into that issue with their Dash are actually buying the $19.99/mo BIS plan, which seems to work for regular Internet access on the Dash.

On TMO, as a rule, no BB Data Plan, no data; only phone and SMS. If you can work it otherwise, let all know.

The tmobile Dash can be tweaked to run on the 5.99 internet, opposed to the 29.99 add on that is supposed to be paired with it. Obviously, setttings need to be changed on the Dash to have this work.

The BB, unfortunately cannot run with the 5.99 data plan, but the $19.99 plan is the cheapest availabl in America, so I wouldnt be to unhappy with it if I were you

aristobrat is right on this one.. I'll be surprised if you see the ability to use the 5.99 T-Zones data plan for full internet..

Lots of people are tweaking the WAP settings for HTML use, and either browsing the web with a dataplan they shouldn't be, or tethering their device to their laptop via Bluetooth and using the EDGE network for full internet browsing.

The $29.99 Total Internet Addon is meant for devices such as the Dash, MDA, and SDA.. and it SUPPOSED to be the data plan activated in order to browse.
PS - This data plan also includes unlimited HotSpot usage.

T-Mobile is losing a lot of money without having proper security lockouts.
And they are starting to catch onto that.

On the other side of the spectrum, Blackberry's have their own unique plans specialized for the devices.

$19.99 for unlimited email as well as web browsing on the BB is not bad at all if you ask me.
It's well worth it... especially with the Pearl having EDGE technology.

Okay, thanks. I know he did just recently have to change some settings on his Dash to get it to work and apparently still doesn't get full connectivity.

Not surprised that he doesn't get full connectivity.

The $5.99 addon is for WAP connectivity and unlimited T-Zones action only.

FYI... the BBplan for TMO bumped up to 29.99. No longer 19.99 anymore. I'm really glad I got my Pearl last month!

Afraid you're mistaken.. the NORMAL BB addon plan is still $19.99.

The $29.99 BB addon is for BB internet + BB Enterprise email.

I have the 1000 anytime minute, plus the BB data plan ($20/-month) and the 400 messages too ($5). all combined works really well for you. All this from TMO.
Keep in mind though. International SMS would still be charged extra... @<hidden> 0.15 each time you send an international sms
