So, despite my newbie status, I thought I'd try updating to the O2 OS with my Cingular 8800 so I could get BBMaps and more vendor themes.

Now, it's like my phone application doesn't exist. When I try to receive calls, they go directly to voicemail. I don't even have teh option to make a call, and when I try to dial, it says "Emergency Calls Only".

Help!??!?!

Did you try removing the battery and rebooting?

Did you try removing the battery and rebooting?

Yes! No luck.

And I checked the App Loader - the "Phone" application was selected when I did the load.

The service book resend?

Yes!

Everything else, including email, works great. It's just that my 'phone' has disappeared.

can you receive incoming calls?

can you receive incoming calls?

No, straight to voicemail.

When I installed the O2 OS on my Cingular phone, I deleted vendor.xml, which the instructions for getting BBMaps suggested would make the phone take the "upgrade".

How can I reload the OS now, as there is no replacement vendor.xml....

Reloaded the Cingular OS and still no phone...time to call tech support...

And tech support has nothing...it goes back tomorrow

And it's still checked? Have you tried unchecking, updating, and then checking again?

This is really odd. I loaded O2's OS without any problems...

I'm afraid you're probably going to be really disappointed with BBmaps after going through all this hassle to load it.

I would do a full wipe and reload... I have not seen this one before...
