Some facts:

1. My 8100 is patched for DST. I patched it after the deadline, if that makes any difference.
2. Both the 8100 and 8800 are running the latest OS available. 8100 has the TIM release and 8800 has the Cingular release. Both unlocked.

What works:
Every time I switch from my 8100 to 8800, desktop manager automatically detects it, generates a new key and transfers all my data over.

What does NOT work:
1. But the time is messed up. The devices would show the right time but appointments will be messed up and alarm will be an hour behind. Time under settings will be an hour behind. When I switch back to the 8100, the patched 8100 also behaves the same way.
2. I have to go to BIS web page and change PIN and IMEI, and activate the new device for enterprise through desktop manager.

Questions:
1. So far, I have been getting around the time issue by reapplying the patch every time I switch devices. Is there an easier solution?
2. Is there a way to automate a device switch without changing PIN/IMEI? - all I would like to do is swap the SIM.

What version of Desktop Manager are you using - make sure it's the latest 4.2 version.

In regards to a switching devices you need to go through the Desktop process if you want the email push/updated calendars etc.

If you want to use the phone for just voice you can just do the SIM swap.

1. Are you sure your desktop is properly patched?

2. It's only as simple as a SIM swap if you're BES only. There's no way around the PIN/IMEI change if you're using BIS at all.

Why are you frequently swapping devices?

Not sure if there was a patch required for my desktop. No problems noticed on my desktop.

I like to use a small device during the week when I dont need to send a lot of emails from my phone, but would like a qwerty and gps for the weekend.
