I managed to pick one up in Vancouver. It is the only dealer that had any stock of the 8800. I am using it now and it is a very slick unit.

The device is actually available if you call c/s.

I called Rogers c/s yesterday and my order is placed. I should have it by end of week. Stock seems to be limited to the dealers and even when they do get these devices the waiting lists are huge. Once store in downtown Toronto has 150+ people on the list.

I think it is cheaper to Purchase one at amazon.com. they sell cingular, but who cares? it would be lot cheaper tan Rogrs phone with contract.
In the us with the three year contract it is 99 dollars, Its funny, Rogers charging 499???

I would agree. That being said I'm willing to pay the premium to have the Rogers branded 8800. If I have a problem (and I have with the Pearl and 8700R) they ship me a new one and then allow me to ship the old one back when the new one arrives. Well worth the premium when you rely on the Berry heavily for business.

I read the Rogers pricing the other day and was shocked! You'd think if they're gonna lock you in for 3 years they'd at least give you a deeper discount on the phone. Geesh. And honestly who keeps the same phone for 3 years nowadays??? I'd hope they allow you an upgrade at least once during such a long contract.

Yeah, I dang near choked when I saw the 3yr price... I'm a dealer and I'd suggest just buying it outright if you're upgrading any time soon.... Ugh. I'll stick to my 7130g from Rogers.

I was at a reputable Rogers dealer and Not in yet. The guy told me he had 42 people in the waiting list so I put myname as 43rd. Also he ordered 80 units but not sure if he gets all of them. After talking to him, he said its worth to go with Rogers contract rather than buying out right, Out right purchase is 750.00. Since I just ported my number from Bell to Rogers, I would go for the contract. Also, WHen I ported my number I insisted that I needed BB8800, So they gave me a Motorola v363 as free phomne worth 229.00 and when the BB 8800 comes I would get the same deal as the new contract,,, Not bad eh?

Ordered them, we are waiting as other stores are. I expect tommorow or friday. Stock will be very low. Most dealerships are are getting less than 150 units and those are some of the larger dealers.

We recieved all our shipments in for today.

I got one last week - but at this point, only corporate have them. If you have a corporate code on your account, you can get them now.

Yeah if you havent snagged one already its prob easiest to go into a store and get one. You will end up getting one sooner.

Have to agree about Rogers' pricing.

Even though Canada has a much smaller population than the U.S., and there is not as much competition because of so few carriers, I still think that Rogers, Bell Mobility and Telus are taking advantage of the situation.

Where'd u get the Rogers 8800 from? I've been waiting for it for ages, and have had no luck. I was offered to buy a Vodafone 8800 Unlocked, but a bit hesitant about it cuz i don't really know the seller.

You kidding the clowns don't even offer that much anymore, you know what you get when you return your NEW defective Robbers device? A refurb as a replacement...

Your right - but for someone like me who relies heavily on my Blackberry I would still rather opt for the higher price on Rogers. In a 1 year span I had 3 issues with my 8700. A simple call to Rogers and I had a replacement device within 2-3 days at no cost (all new, not refurbs). If I had bought an unlocked device I would have to have paid $250 for the repair/replacement each time through RIM - not worth it from my perspective for the peace of mind I get with the replacement plan on Rogers.

Just my 2 cents.
