You can always download the latest version of Dekstop Manager from RIM. It's not carrier or model-specific.

...and if you notice, regardless of the carrier you're downloading from you eventually hit a point where you have to provide credentials and this page is suspiciously identical (i.e. looks like it's really part of RIM's site) to the credentials page for all the other carriers.

All the software - Desktop Manager and the Handheld OS - is ALL written by RIM.

Not true, until Verizon did its thing the VZAccess program failed with 4.2 from RIM.

Now just need them to catchup on the device software,

Not To MENTION Vista and Office2007 compatibility would be NICE!

So now how do I update the software for my phone to 4.2?

I was trying to use the media manager and it said my device software is not up to date. Thanks

Handheld OS v4.2 is only available today for the 8100 and 8800 series.

Gotcha. I figured that was the answer. So in reality, upgrading the desktop software for my 8703 was basically useless.

Do you have any idea when they will make it available for the 8700's?

Actually, DM 4.2 has bug fixes and DST 2007 patches.

Nope; and I've never even heard a rumor about new 8703 code.

Actually, thats not true...

I use VZAccess Mgr to manage my KPC-650, and have been using the 4.2 desktop software since I got my 8703e back in sept or oct. BB Desktop 4.2 has never caused a problem w/ my VZAccess Mgr.

As far as Vista and 2k7 compatability.. we'll, I'll keep my opinions to myself...sort of. What kind of masochist installs a M$ OS before SP2???

Verizon's 4.2 SP1 software installs & works fine with Vista Business Edition 32-bit, as well as with Office 2007 Enterprise Edition.
This is on a 8703e.
