Figured I would try it to see if it would work for data. I use the same info for TLS AP access and it will connect but then drops immediately. Doesn't give an error, just drops. Passes authentication and all. Anyone else try this? I saw somewhere on the net that it should work.

Haven't tried it. I have tried putting the sim from my GC 89 into a spare Pearl and it refuses the data connection. I will try the other way around tonight and post results.

I just tried it. No success.

In order to have a data connection in a BB, you must have a BB dataplan and it must be properly provisioned by the carrier. The PIN is tied to RIM servers and that is what makes it work, so I am told.

And a BB dataplan will only work with a BB. If you have another device, you will need a standard (non-BB) dataplan.

People used the $19.99 BB dataplan on windows mobile devices with no problem after tmobile raised the price of the windows mobile data plan to $29.99. So I dont think that is the issue here.

Hmmm not sure how that would work since it is supposedly tied to the BB PIN. Maybe the PIN is loaded to the SIM and that is how RIM picks it up on GSM phones. Obviously not that way with CDMA though.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Quick question, are all ports opened on the 19.99 BB plan? Want to know cause I'm looking for a data card too
