Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Most everything, won't restore all your third party apps. Your best bet to migrate will be to use Desktop Manager and its Switch Device wizard, which get everything--99%. Download the latest version 4.2, service pack 1. Go to rim.com and click to software.

It depends on wheather these programs installed in your device support backup function, or should we say, BB just backs up owner informations and some particular softwares' contents which require to be backed up. However, BB doesn't back up themes or games or other 3rd paties themselves. For instance, it indeed makes backup for BerryPix content yet it does not back up BerryPix ware. Go check "Backup and Restore" option on your desktop manager and choose "advanced" to find detail informations.

I wasn't going to install 4.2 til they work out the bugs,so i can use it for the saving of apps & games purposes without putting 4.2 on the new phone??

Huh? Restating..."Desktop Manager version 4.2, Service Pack 1"

This is NOT the same as the OS version 4.2xx that is out and about, they are two separate things. You can have Desktop Manager Ver 4.2 SP1 without having OS 4.2 on your BB.
