BIS or BES?

The Desktop Manager 4.2 (Latest Release) offers a module called "Switch Mobile Devices". I have not personally used it, but it could offer something helpful.

If they are on company-issued BES devices, or on Hosted BES, make sure they contact the IT/Provider to switch. A backup of each would be a great idea, and I'd highly suggest it.

yeah, thats what i was thinking my only concern was, it transfers one at a time and i want to my moms stuff to be on my dads phone and my dads stuff to be on my moms and i think it only can do one phone, meaning one person loose's their stuff, but i guess i shall give it a try

Backup both, then wipe them both. Restore Dad's backup to his new phone, and Restore Mom's backup to her new phone. MAKE SURE ALL BACKUP OPTIONS ARE CHECKED- Messages, etc.

This would also add redundancy (a little anyways). If something doesn't work as planned, you can just Restore them each to their own old device and come back to figure out another option.

Well, you should be able to back up one, like the 8800. I always do a safety net measure of synching to MS Outlook as well...just in case.

Then use Switch Device Wizard in Desktop Manager, switch the 8700 (old) to the 8800 (new). Make sure the 8800 is up and running with the new info.

Then do the restore back to the 8700, which should move the personal infomation, etc., emails, contacts, to the 8700 from the 8800.

Or the other way around. boy, I am confused now.

Ditto.

I don't think there's going to be a way to do this without being ridiculously confused. As long as he's backed up all the data, he should be ok. *hopes*

Froogle, I sorta like your method better anyway, ALWAYS have a back up of both devices, regardless, then you are safe.

good luck.

With BES I just generally perform an EA. You can do this over USB if your BES admin isn't handy to give you an EA password. It doesn't bring over any 3rd party apps but those can always just be loaded OTA. Most things (including bookmarks, browser push channels and some other things) are handled by EA pretty well.

A backup's still not a bad idea though.
