Anyone out there having issues activating the 8830, as I reason I cannot be the only person. I've had the phone for 6+ hours and 4 support reps and 2 hours later, they are still at a loss as to what is wrong.

For what it is worth, I'm on the 1350 w/Blackberry unlimited plan domestic only, though. I did not select nor do I have a SIM card for the phone.

I was hoping to do speed tests between the slightly sluggish Cingular 8800 and my new VZ 8830 ... so far, CING is winning!

I had many problems today activating 5 8830's.

One thing that seemed to work after many retried was re-registering the routing table, removing the battery, then turn back on and restarting enterprise activation.

While I can not put my finger on it there is something wrong.

I had to do the same thing several times, it was frustrating. The reps are pretty much worthless right now with this device.

so, i concur with the 2 posts above. vz couldn't tell me what they did largely because they didn't know but at least for me, the issue lay with the fact that i didnt ask for a sim card when i bought the phone, and their activation system was looking for a sim. i *think* they just entered a dummy sim #. mind you, this in addition to probably 9 battery pulls.

LOL, as far as the sim card, it seems so far that ot much has changes except the phone recognizes the card but i still have e-mails flowing, seems good to go. Are you having issues with activation???

junior - no issues...when I first activated, it was without the SIM card...then I put the SIM card in, and rebooted...no antenna bars...rebooted again, and all was well...LOL...
What setting do you have it under - Connect to CDMA & GSM automatically or something else?
Thx.

My thoughts exactly.
The VZW phone rep told me that "my SIM was now registered with VZW" after I inserted it? LOL...I asked her "whaddya mean?" & she mumbled something I didn't pick up...

No, just one slot for a GSM/SIM card (CDMA doesn't use a SIM card).
Yes, can be on both CDMA & GSM, its a dual-standard BB world phone.

Yup; however, he should be able to call *611 (customer service) even without the phone being activated...or is that 911 without activation? Don't rightly remember...
