Sometimes when I take the BB out of the holster it is locked other times not. THat made me think there has to be a shortvut key to lock it. Any idea?

I would like to know that as well, I know you can set the "convenience" key to lock it.

I don't have an 8830 but the answer is no, go to option>security option>general settings and select "no" for lock handheld upon holstering

You have to disable "dial from Home Screen" and then the shortcut key is "K".

Just push the green phone button and you can dial from there. Just one extra button press!

yes, but you can hit letters too. :) As in, if I hit "s" it puts the #4 in there and also searches for people with "s" in it. Though I could just hit the green phone button THEN "s" and it does the same thing.. hmm ;)

Thanks. Dial from Home screen is set to "No".

If I hold down "k", I get "Assign a Speed Dial to the K key?"

What am I doing wrong?

i think everyone jumped past your initial issue.........this is something i have been experiencing too.

i've got the settings right (i think) to disable lock upon holstering.....options, security, general setting, lock handheld upon holstering: NO.

but just about everytime i draw from the holster my bb is locked.

any suggestions? admitted bb newb here........

have same issue, really curious if this is common issue for everyone else,
is it suppose to keylock when u put it in ur holster?
or maybe when u put it in holster it accidently touchs alt then enter botton and does it?
cuz i noticed most of the time when i put it in my holster it press enter botton and goes into message or calendar menu too ,
any suggestion?

Excellent! i've been looking for this short cut for awhile now and haven't seen it anywhere...

Know one to switch between silent and normal mode? Nokia had one on my e62... i like the t-mobile theme but their profile button is not as easy to access from the main menu as Vodaphone's.

Hit "F" from the home screen to bring up the profile menu.

Don't hold "k", just press it and release it.

to dial "letters" just hit alt + "s" and it will dial correctly. For example, you can just type 1-800- "ALT + SPRINT" - 1 and it will dial 1-800-777-4681

Hate to ask this...but which is the "enter" key? (I'm on a new 8830). Thanks very much.

It's right below the delete key...far right column of the keypad, last button down.

I think it might actually be the "shift" key instead of the "ALT" key. "Shift" is the button to the left of the "Zero" button.

so it should be Shift+Enter
