Google Maps Bluetooth Gps???

Does Anyone Know How The Bluetooth Gps Works For The New Version Of Google Maps I Have It On My 8700 And I Cannot Get It To Activate. Does It Only Work On A Particular Os Or Handset. Any Information Anyone Would Have Would Be Great Thanks!!!

do you have a Bluetooth GPS puck synched with your BB8700? If you don't have an external GPS working with your 8700 than you are obviously out of luck :)

If you do have a GPS synched then I would try to shut down the phone and after restart try Google Maps right away. Sometimes it does not synch right with your GPS especially if you have used BBMaps right beforehand...

Hi, finally got it work
here is my steps to get it works.

blackberry 8700 Tmobile, upgrade to os 4.2.1.91
Bluetooth GPS Noika LD-1W for $50

uninstall the google map 1.5.4
install the google map using Google Maps (http://www.google.com/gmm)
which will NOT give you the GPS option.

so now I turn ON the BULETOOTH

uninstall the google map 1.6.1

reinstall the 1.6.0 from
http://www.google.com/gmm/apps/v1.6.0/L1/gmaps-BlackBerry-8700_v4_1_L1.jad

with (google 1.6.0) the GPS does not work well, the GPS tracking sometime stop, and will not work in "direction" mode

with bluetooth still on, go to Google Maps (http://www.google.com/gmm) to get 1.6.1 and perform an overwrite install over 1.6.0

that it, I am using 1.6.1 with bluetooth gps with Tmobile 8700g

PS: both 1.6.0 and 1.6.1 WILL NOT turn off the backlight while GPS mode is on, which I think it is a very good hidden feature.


TO AVOID MY LONG STEP , TRY ENABLE THE BLUETOOTH WHILE YOU INSTALL THE GOOGLE MAP FIRST TIME FROM WWW.GOOGLE.COM/GMM
( no sure will works, but at least my instruction works for me.)
