I am currently in China, and I do not have an international plan with Cingular. I can still access the internet through EDGE, but I'm not sure if I will be charged extra if I only use data stuff like email and internet.

If you're planning to be in China for very long (a couple of weeks) you may want to call Cingular and ask them for the international unlimited data + discounted voice roaming pkg for $69.99. They will prorate the charge for your bill cycle, but might be worth it to not get charged up the yazoo for data overage (plus the discounted voice is nice, too).

Though IIRC there's now an ETF if you try to remove it before the period that they specify (1 year?).
