Has anyone else experienced problems with the BB not charging via the USB cable when plugged into a docking station or port replicator vs. plugging directly into the notebook itself?

We have this issue constantly. We are now seeing an issue when the BB is connected tothe USB cable, the notebook reboots itself (each and every time).

If you have seen this, I would greatly appreciate any feedback.

Thanks!

What kinds of notebooks are you using and what model phones?

On mine (HP nc6000), I went into the device manager in XP and told it to disable power management on all the USB ports and it seems to have helped a bit.

Here we have the following notebooks:
Compaq EVO n600c
Compaq EVO n610c
HP Compaq nc6000
Dell D600

I think it may have helped a little but I don't think it really fixes the issue.

Thanks for the info. We are using IBM T41 notebooks. We were using the N610's and had the same problem.

When I emailed BB T-Support this is the response I received:

1) If you are using a laptop on a docking station, remove the BlackBerry
from the docking station port and connect it directly to the computer.

2) If you are using a USB hub or any external connection point, remove the
BlackBerry and connect it directly to the computer.

3) If you are running Windows XP, disable Power Management in device
manager.

a) Right-click on My Computer and choose Properties. On the next window
click on the Hardware tab and click on the Device Manager button.

b) From the Device Manager scroll to the bottom to Universal Serial Bus
Controllers and expand the group. Double-click the first USB Root Hub and
click on the Power Management tab. Uncheck the box 'Turn off this device to
save power' and click Ok. Repeat this step for any other USB Root Hubs
listed.

I am having the same problem with Dell Docking stations. BB's will charge, Desktop manager shows it is charged but it will not proceed with the Synchronization. If I connect the BB directly to the Laptop USB no issues...

:bb: I know the thread is a couple of years old, but I can verify that changing the default USB Root power management setting on all USB ports does the trick. (y)
