Hello all, I looking to see if any other users are having slow email delivery on their BB's using Verizon. Ever since about Sunday, I'm having lags of anywhere from 10-30mins on email delivery to my handset. I have spoken to other users in my company that have other Verizon BB's (8703's) and they are seeing the same thing. I'm located up in the Northeast (Boston Area) and I am on a BES. If I check my stats on the BES, it doesn't show that I have any pending messages and yet I'll have 3 new messages in my Inbox. If I wait, they will eventually show up on my BB. I have full signal strength and I have had service books resent as well as done a cold restart. It doesn't appear to be anything on my company's side, so I wanted to see if other Verizon users were seeing this. Any input is greatly appreciated!

I just sent an email to my work address to see how log before it shows up on the blackberry. It took 8 minutes to get pushed out to my blackberry.

I have verizon
I have BB 8830
I have BIS not BES so yours should be alot faster than mine.

GG I am on BIS in the south east and I too am having quite a bit of lag time on my email as well mine are up to hours not mins.

I get them in my out look and the times will be hour or so later on my BB. I have resent service books and they show up immediatly after that but then it starts the lag again.

Just sent a test message to myself, and got it on my BB 1 minute later.

I'm on BIS, not BES, but have always experienced great email delivery speeds. My Outlook on my PC hasn't even recorded the same email.

Just wanted to let you know that I am not experiencing the same issues..

Not trying to cause a controversy but I’m on AT&T / Cingular, and I sent myself a message to my Blackberry e-mail address and it was received within 20 seconds. Sent it to my pushed Bell South Account and it arrived within 3 mins.

Sounds like it might be a Verizon problem.

Thanks everyone for your input. I got one email within two minutes of sending it, but all the rest of my messages are still out atleast 10 mins up to 30 mins. I've got a trouble ticket open with my corporate telcom group. Hopefully they can get some answers from Verizon B2B Support tomorrow, because like I said to them earlier, if you're paying top dollar for speeds like this, we might as well just drop them and all go back to Cingy/At&t. Verizon made a big play with our company offering equipment at 1/2 the cost of Cingy/At&t, so needless to say, they wanted us to try using Verizon. It's only been 2 weeks so I think we have time to back out if things don't improve.

as far as I know if your using BIS the BIS server pulls your new email every 15 minutes.

so if the server pulls your email and then you send one 10 minutes later you will have a 5 minute delivery time.

so to get the real length I would send an email, then as soon as the BIS server pulls it and sends to your black berry send a second email. This way you will have to wait the full interval for it to pull the rest of the new emails.

Mikes thanks for the tip, but my problem is with my BES email which should be instantaneous or pretty close to that. It always was when I was on Cingular and also was for the first week I was on Verizon, so I'm hoping that it's just some Verizon issue that will go away. It's insane to pay top dollar for delayed messages.

I had both VZW and Cing BB's for a while (months) and forwarded messages to both blackberry.net address and found that the VZW would stall on every 5th message or so by several minutes. I've seen this with 8700c and g vs 8703e and 8800 vs 8830. For a few day I used 3 BB's VZW Cing and Nextel. The only delays were again in VZW. I paid attention to signal and was taken into consideration. I talked to VZ about this and was treated like a nut case. Maybe I am, carrying 3 BB's for a few days.

I just moved up from the 8703 to the 8830 and noticed the same thing about the e-mail delivery speed. I haven't officially clocked anything, but my impression that the e-mail delivery seemed quite a bit delayed over what I had been used to. I am not a BES user, so I don't think that you will find anything at your company. I haven't called in to Verizon about it yet.

Well just as I suspected and just as Rick just stated, there is nothing wrong with my companies BES, etc. We did extensive testing today and everything points to Verizon. At close of business today I received an email from my corporate telecom group stating "in regards to your slow email delivery on your BB, we have identified this as a carrier issue." My response to them was, did you contact Verizon or are you paying top dollar for crappy service and you're not going to say anything? I haven't heard anything back yet. I'll post again if I find out anything more.

Same delay here in NJ anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes between Outlook and the phone receiving the mail. And I think unrelated but just noticed that it's not on the EV today. Wife's 700P is right next to it on EV, 8703 1X.

Well, after working with my corporate BES people and Verizon today, my BB8830 is back to being instantaneous on receiving emails. I can send myself a message via the handheld and it will be delivered in under 10 seconds. Here's where I feel the problem stemmed from...

Prior to getting the BB 8830, I was on an 8700c with service from Cingular/AT&T. When I got the new device, I loaded the latest BB Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 and ran the switch device wizard. This backed up my old device and copied all my emails and everything over to the new device, updated the PIN on my BES, etc. Well there must either be a bug in the "Switch" process which messed up my handheld data.

Performed a wipe and restored a backup this am and it didn't help. Same 10-30min delay. Peformed another wipe and only did an Over the Air Enterprise Activation and everything is working fine now. I did however end up losing my 60 days of historic emails on my handheld, but that I can live with and it will eventually catch up.

I'm not sure if it is just the Switch Device Wizard that caused the issue or if it was also the fact that during the switch, I changed carriers from Cingy to Vzw. I'd be interested in whether or not others that are having this issue used the Switch Device Wizard as well.

I have to say that I'm kinda leery of the wizard as there's no telling exactly what it's transferring. If you're on BES a lot of things will get transferred to your new BB via Enterprise Activation (certainly all your data and things like bookmarks, browser push channels, and a little of your old email, etc). With apps, in most cases there's an OTA download and it doesn't hurt to go ahead and get the latest version while you're switching devices. Considering all that, I haven't used the wizard at all but it does seem handy for those not on BES or those who aren't quite as comfortable with manually transferring everything.

I never used the wizard at any time. Still a several minute delay direct to BIS account or BES. It's obvious when i get up in the morning and review my messages and find several witht the same time stamp. It just seems to go dormant and then it wakes and gets messages.

Now that I have updated the BB unit software, I am able to get email now. Some mail comes in seconds, but all too often it takes an hour or more to have the mail pushed to my BB.

Hi Everyone,
I do have the same problem in Canada. It is really frustrating. Sometimes it takes 15-20 minutes,
Anyone found a fix or has any idea why this happening?

Thanks

Yeah I have been having the same problem today & I thought it was just one account but its been happening with all of them today. Delays of up to 35 mins for one account & 20 mins on the other. Odd....

I agree with what I read above. I have only observed the problem today.
