I've ordered various 8700 OEM parts from them before. They shipped quickly and the parts were perfect! Much less expensive than Promobility.

I ordered a new face plate because I cracked my lense when I dropped it (worse day of my life) haha So I was curious, does the ordered part come with instructions on how to remove the face plate lense with out damaging any part of the phone? If not do you know where I can obtain directions on how to safely remove it?

No instructions came with my 8700 parts.

I haven't seen an 8300 disassembly instructions yet, but the pics of the sides seem to indicate they're only fastened by two screws and some tabs.

I use the Rogers Curve and wanted to order a full housing just in case. Was wondering if there are any differences between the housing pieces other than the colours and also the branding.

Basically just the lens colour is different on a couple and also the carrier names across the bottom of the faceplate.

Hey, all! I just broke the tab on my bberry battery door! Bummer! does anyone know where I can buy one? I tried the CNN outfit in Hong Kong but they don't have one yet.
Any ideas, O BBerry Gurus?

Thanks

I have ordered from them several times with no problems.

It is pretty straight forward to take apart if you have a size 5 torx and a plastic case opener tool. The tricky part is peeling the faceplate away from the screen, which has some foam tape to seal the screen to the lens.

There is an instructional video on youtube here:
YouTube - Blackberry Curve 8300 Screen Removal & Take Apart (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiIl19G74C0)

I ordered the dark grey faceplate and put it on my silver Curve.

I also emailed these guys to ask if they're getting in a T-Mobile branded housing (they have the others listed in this thread, and also faceplates that don't include the branded piece at the bottom center of the Curve). Reply back was they they're expecting it, but don't have it just yet.

So to replace the 8300 lens do you actually need to open the unit or can you pry it off from the front?

I opened mine after following the Youtube video, but soon realised that I didn't need to open it - you can replace the outer screen without the phone being dismantled although it feels as though it doesn't want to give.
Mine didn't have a very good 'seal', (thin glue blobs by the look of it), so it's a 'sloppy' fit, needs some thin double-sided foam or flexible sealant to properly secure it.

One small problem with replacing the rubber coated side bezels is that on your OEM bezels, the side buttons are literally melted on to keep them fastened.(n)

They can be removed and reinstalled in a new set, but have something like a soldering iron ready to melt the tiny plastic posts to fasten your old buttons to the new side bezels.

I was hoping the new side bezels would come with new buttons.:-(

I'm still amazed at the price difference between these two vendors:

CNN (http://cnn.cn/shop/blackberry-8300-c-200_365.html) vs Promobility (http://www.promobility.com/index.aspx?section=Wholesale+-+New&page=productlist&CategoryID=145)
OEM speaker $3.99 vs $20
Lens: $4.99 vs $35
Front housing: $11.99 vs $50
Full Housing (no battery door): $29.99 vs $89

...and no I don't work for either company.

reasonably priced.

BlackBerry 8310 Curve OEM red faceplate w/ lens- SonyEricsson, LG, Acer, Mobiado, Panasonic, Motorola, Apple, Microsoft, Samsung, (http://cnn.cn/shop/blackberry-8310-curve-faceplate-lens-p-1975.html)

it says 8310 but fits my 8300. I think anything 8310 will fit 8300 and vice versa.

while your at it get an extra lens too.
8300 - Sony, Acer, BlackBerry, Accessories Store, Alcatel, Mobiado, Apple, BenQ-Siemens (http://cnn.cn/shop/blackberry-8300-c-200_365.html)

you'll need a T4 torx. (I got a pricision torx kit for $5 at Home Depot).

the Youtube video was helpful.

Anyone know where to get the black keyboard from the Crimson 8310? I just picked up a titanium 8310 and think the black keys would look great. Doesn't look like CNN.CN has them yet.

I haven't found *any* keypads on the market yet for an 83xx. If anybody knows of any sources, please share!

They've had many of the parts available for a while now, and finally started stocking replacement keypads for the Curve - prices are the best that I've seen for Blackberry parts also - some of the other places charge nearly double what these guys charge. The keypad, btw, is selling for something like $5.

The only catch would be it takes 7-10 days to get to the states from Hong Kong, where-as it would take 3-5 days in the states. Well worth the wait to me.

WRONG!!! They do NOT ship quick... at least not to USA they don't! (n)

I ordered three red faceplates for my Curve 8320 over a week ago from Cellular Accessories - Motorola, Accessories Store, HTC, Sony, SonyEricsson, Alcatel, Apple, Nokia, Pan (http://cnn.cn) and they're just now shipping it out and that will take another 7-10 days. I don't know if I'll order from them again just to save some money. I don't like waiting that long! :(

CNN stuff is NOT oem thus the price difference. I recently bought a replacement face plate with lens. All I have to say is that after once day of use the glass lens is already developed MANY scratches whereas the original BB lens does not even have a scratch on it even after 6 months of use. I would not recommend CNN if you are wanting a replacement as comparable as the original.

Can anyone else add to this? My Curve 8300 is showing quite a bit of wear and tear these days. I'm probably getting an 8900 when they're available, but I'd like to refurbish the 8300 anyway. The full housing kits at cnn.cn look pretty good - but I'd hate to spend time and money like that to wind up with something sub-OEM quality.

Any other experiences with the quality of the housings / faceplates they sell for blackberrys?

...of course anyone can make any claims, but re: OEM question, their statement on their FAQ page is:

4. Are your parts OEM or aftermarket knockoffs?

Our parts are 100% OEM unless specified as aftermarket. They will be the same material as the item you remove from your phone.
