First let me say I am new to BBerries in general ... just got an 8800 3 weeks ago.

On my prior smartphone when I installed an app I could decide to install it to the device memory or the installed memory card. Theory was to install large or seldom used apps to the card to save device memory.

I have installed apps OTA and via the desktop manager but don't seem to see how I can do the same thing on my 8800.

Am I missing something or is this not feasible? If its not feasible what is the purpose for the memory card?

Thank you in advance for any thoughts/comments.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

You cannot install apps to the Media Card.
It is intended for media, i.e., music, movies, files, pictures.

You will find that memory management tools on a blackberry do not exist. Regarding the card, I have used it to store ringtones, music, and video. No programs, that I have found, have made use of it.

One last item - there is a memory leak on the 8830. Free memory (File Free) will slowly disappear over a period of days. To reclaim the memory you must pull the battery out of the device.
