So this morning I accidentally dropped my Blackberry, effectively "bricking" it. Screen's purple and green, meaning I've broken the display, I'm assuming.
Before I go to my work IT group, I'd like to backup and then DELETE some personal stuff - most notable, my SMS text messages. Might be some personal stuff there that I'd like to keep - and not have the boys in IT read through.
(Yeah yeah... don't text the hot girls from your work blackberry... I get the moral of the story)
Using desktop manage I can do a backup, which I'm assuming does messges, but how how can I then torch what's on the device?
Thanks,
man if they wanted to read it they can do it whether you wipe it or not its already on their servers.

Yeah... I know that... its nothing that'd get me FIRED or anyhting... just personal stuff I don't feel like leaving on the device when I hand it over to them.
if it wont connect to the DM you most likely out of luck try javaloader and see if it will connect. if that dont work your SOL

Actually, it connects to DM just fine...
Not 100% clear on how to wipe that data using DM, though. I did a backup so that when I get a replacement I can restore everything, but... how do I then wipe personal data like text messages?
Thanks

Wipe options here...
1- How do I wipe the BlackBerry from the device? - BlackBerryFAQ (http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_from_the_device%3F)
2- How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ (http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F)
The first wipe will wipe data only (messages, contacts, calendar, SMS, etc.
The second option will completely wipe everything, including the OS.

eh, any good BB user worth his salt could do it blind, no screen, and from memory.
And while driving! lol
So use #2.
