Thanks to everyone who has provided help so far. I've figured much out the past few weeks. I'm using my .edu and gmail.

1) I've got my .EDU setup as a BIS. When I respond to emails via outlook on my desktop the original email that i'm responding to re-appears in my BB inbox as a new email. How can I setup a filter or do something to stop this?

2) I've seen some posts asking about this, but no response, I'm coming over from the Treo and love the CallRec feature that allows me to record phone calls. Are there any similar apps on the BB?

3) I'll be syncing with personal, not a corp. server, so I'm trying to figure out what is the best calendar app to sync with on my desktop. Do people just use Outlook or does BB have separate software like palm?

4) Any good applications that you can recommend for an alarm clock?

5) I'll be carrying it in my pocket- what screen protectors do people suggest?

Thanks!

1- like this, same process http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-blackberry-discussion/54675-how-prevent-g-mail-sent-items-being-sent-your-handheld.html
2- Nope.
3- MS Outlook. BB doesn't make us learn a whole new app, MS Outlook works great.
4- MultiAlarm, Mobylo! MultiAlarm - PDA/Smartphone Software (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fsoftware.brighthand.com%2Fproduct.asp%3Fid%3D9970&ei=yG-JRtrBGYfOwALGtvjuDw&usg=AFQjCNF0RWLuVBtG8R1UEUHtK6-y75fjJA&sig2=R78Yw4F5JVMrfsHN0dQ6uQ)
5- I really like ScreenPatronus, off their .com website, or ebay. Lots of other recommend Best Skins Ever.

Good luck.

I wouldn't advise carrying the 8830 in your pocket. That tends to foul up the trackball to the point of becoming inoperable.

As for #1, another option is to log into your BIS, edit your email accounts and delete the Auto BCC for each.

I wouldn't worry about your pocket messing up the trackball. I've carried my Blackberry Pearl in my pocket everyday for 6 months and had no problem with the trackball.

Had to switch to Verizon so just bought the 8830...

Thanks- although this seems to be a different issue. This solved my gmail problem, but this issue is different. I don't get the sent copy of the email, the same email from the original sender reappears again. Any other suggestions?

2- Nope.
Damn- Thanks.

3- MS Outlook. BB doesn't make us learn a whole new app, MS Outlook works great.

Sounds good- just have to remember how I import my contacts from Palm Desktop to OE easily.

There are known issues with the calendar syncing on the 8830 from Verizon. I assume that's what you're going with? Your profile says 8700, and you say you're coming from a Treo so I'm a little confused. I just thought you should be aware. As of yet, the only fix is to use the latest OS from Bell Mobility that is posted in the 8800 forum as a sticky at the top of the list. For more info do a search for calendar sync 8830 or similar and you'll likely find the threads on the issue.

Thanks- my profile is a bit messed up at the moment. I've been using an 8700 on Tmobile just for 2 months on a temporary basis. My other device is a Sprint T650. I am moving to a Sprint 8830 this week. Haven't heard about these sync issues, will have to go read up on that.

I think thats your blackberry messenger telling you you have a message. Go into Blackberry Messenger and you should see a "conversation" there.

If that's not it, it may be a voicemail? I'm not positive...

Or a request to be added to your BBMessenger contact list.
