Today I noticed the USB charger for my 8800 will not charge the phone. Additionally, the phone is not recognized while plugged into a computer. I tried another charger from a previous BlackBerry (7290) and it doesn't work either. I have no idea what to do, anyone have any ideas? I bought the phone from a Cingular authorized retailer in New York City about 3 months ago. Can anyone lend some ideas?

Did you get the optional insurance?hehe You could also try powering it down, and removing the battery for a few seconds. Just my initial thought.

I did not get optional insurance, but I do have phone insurance from Cingular, just not sure that it covers my 8800, I didn't buy it with a contract. I took the battery out for about 30 seconds and then put it back in, still nothing.

You don't need insurance. The unit is guaranteed for a year as long as its not physically damaged (dropped) or liquid damaged. Call cingular 800-801-1101 and they will mail you a new phone.

Thanks for the help, I'm calling them now. I looked at the USB port on the phone and it's loose, I hope it will be covered.

After speaking with a CS rep last night, I'm getting an RMA on the phone. It should be here in 2 days.

I had the same issue with my 8800. USB charging port came loose and I could not charge the device. I also got a RMA on mine.
