I just sold my 8800 (I now have the 8300). My law firm put a security measure (I guess you call it a patch) on my phone that when it times out after two hours or you lock your phone, you need to type in the password to get into it.

I wiped the phone and the patch is still there.

My IT department tells me wiping should get rid of it.

I am trying it again (because wiping it is not working), but is there something else I should be doing?

Any help would be appreciated.

Wirelessly posted (8700g: BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Look here, down to the link "how to remove an IT policy from my BlackBerry". Remember to release your PIN with your carrier.
Good luck.

I tried the fix and it did not work at all.

Does not having the SIM card in it have any effect on this? I don't think it does, but figured I would ask.

You can remove the IT Policy, but it you reactivate it against their BES server it will automatically be reapplied. When connected to a BES server the ONLY way to remove the policy it to have the BES admin apply a different policy. (ie. one without said restriction).
