The nextel i870 has a 64k SIM card. Will the VZW 8830 recognize the sim card and allow me to import the phonebook? Nextel has directions for doing this to a 7100i, but will it work on the VZW 8830?

If not...

what other ways can I import the phonebook?

THANKS!

No, you can't use a Nextel SIM card in a Verizon phone.
Just won't work.

You need to find a way to sync your i870 with your computer... then you can sync those contacts to your 8830.

I can use Motorola software to read the sim card. This will allow me to have the phonebook data on my computer. What format do I need the data in, to be able to import it into the 8830?

Probably easiest to put the data into Outlook.

I don't even know what software you're using. Are you using Motorola Phone Tools? I would imagine the Motorola website should have some user guides or something.

On second thought, what would happen if i put the nextel sim card into the verizon 8830?
I know it wont connect to any service, but wouldn't it be possible to read the data off of it?

or would it damage the phone?

does the 8830 have a "64K" SIM card?

TIA

downloading the data off the SIM card with Motorola employee software. I could coy/paste it into word or excel.. But I am unsure how i would get the data into Outlook and then from Outlook into the 8830.

Are there any other ways to import an Address Book??

Nothing will happen. Go ahead and try it. Won't hurt anything.
Just don't expect any useful results. The 8830 isn't going to read contacts off a Nextel SIM.

If you can get the data into Excel, then you should be able to export it out of Excel into an ASCII text file. BlackBerry Desktop Manager can then import the contacts from the ASCII text file into your device.
