8830 help

i just got a bb 8830 from verizon and its not bad so far, but theres something thats pissin me off, all the calls i make or messages i send or recieve wont be there no more after around an hour or so. i go to call logs and its all empty and so is the messages.
is it supposed to do that or is there something wrong with my phone?

Check and see how much memory is left on your phone if its low on memory it tends to clear old messages
