For use as ready-reference/emergency, I plan to take my blackberry with me when I vacation for two weeks in the Baltic region (Amsterdam, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Stockholm, St Petersburg) this summer. I am currently on a Rogers data/voice plan. I have the 8800 ( no wi-fi).
Questions
1) are there any minimum daily roaming charges applicable in this area that I would get dinged for just by turning the BB on?
2) If I do use my BB to send/receive email etc, and pay the going per-minute rates, what are these rates like? I keep on hearing how much cheaper and more affordable cell rates are in Europe, but I suspect that applies to plans that are taken out there. What would a Rogers customer expect to pay by sending or receivng an email, or making a phone call ? A buck a minute? $5? 10$???
