Hey everyone,

I will be purchasing a 8830 next week. I would like to get a larger memory card for it so I was wondering how easily I can replace it. The 8830 comes with a 64mb card but I would like to replace it with a 2GB card from TigerDirect. Is it easy to replace the memory card? Do I have to do it any special way to retain my saved emails and applications?

Any help is greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

The 8830 doesn't come with any SD card.

64mb is the internal device memory.

There is an unused microSD slot on the 8830 for you to add your 2gb card to.

It's very simple.

Emails and applications get stored in device memory only and won't be affected by the addition of an SD card.

The 4gb card works fine as well.

I suggest that you take your new microSD card and install it into a computer first and run the Microsoft error correction utility to clean up any trash on the card. It appears that the 8830 cannot do error correction and crashes if it tries to format a card with errors.

I have a 2GB card in mine. I have loaded quite a few songs and some videos and am pleased with both the video and audio quality.

Thanks for your replies!

I was hoping to upload mp3s and movies. Considering the 64mb is internal and my emails are stored there, I will just wait until a 4gb micro sd card becomes available. I could get a 2gb but I might as well get a 4gb considering I can fit more on it ;) I just need to wait until one is available for Canada.

An 8gb card should also be released soon, I am not sure if the BB will support it or not but I would guess that it would be compatible.

Actually I believe reading in the specs that it only can handle up to 4GB.
