View Full Version : Replacement phone won't mute ring tone

I just got a replacement Pearl sent to me from at&t and I used to be able to click the mute button to fully mute the ring from an incoming call, without sending it to VM. Now this option doesn't work any longer. All the side keys will mute the ring for like 2 seconds and then it starts to ring again. I have software version 4.2.1.96. I'm actually not even sure if the button up top works, but is there an alternate way to do this now with this version of the OS?

the side buttons, the volumne keys will mute it and not send to VM

Cory, I appreciate the reply... but did you actually read my post? As I stated in there, they will only mute the ring for like 2 seconds. The mute button used to mute the ring for the entire duration. Looks like another OS snafu...

sorry i was half asleep when i read your post... lol

i would update the OS if its not the most up to date, as i dont have this problem at all, both side buttons mute it for the whole time and same with the top mute button

Yeah, this is the latest software from Blackberry through my provider... It's weird, but my original phone did the same thing with the side buttons. Mute the call very shortly, then the ring starts going again...

Oh well, I'll just have to boot people to voicemail and they'll have to get used to it, lol.

ok well download the newest version of the OS for the BB at the top of the page and use that, the OS is not carrier dependant

no worries! let hopes it works, it should as i am running the most up to date and i can push either of those buttons and it mutes it the whole time

Well that solved the problem... nice to know that bugs can just randomly pop in and out of updates. Oh well, at least this time I was able to get back my other Themes at the same time with the updated .alx from that same thread. Thanks again, funny how things work out... (y)
