Software update -- BB Desktop Mgr. Mandatory???

Hi.

Because I mainly use my wife's Samsung A707 as my modem for the Web (it's 3G), I have deleted the Desktop Manager that came with my 8700c. To install the 4.2 software update do I have to use the Manager? I found it hard to use compared to my Nokia PC Suite software. The application installer was much more intuitive.

Yes, you need DM to install the OS. You could just download Desktop Manager 4.2, Service Pack 1, it is not as large (no Roxio Media Manager) and will do just fine for you.
