Hi there,
I am located in Australia.
I bought off ebay a "NEW" Blackberry 6230. Took it down to my local service provider (Optus) and signed up. Inserted sim card and no problems using phone features, even set-up voicemail. However, when I try to create a new account to access my blackberry account it says:
The PIN and IMEI you have provided are not recognized.
Please ensure you have proceeded to the proper service provider's activation site, as specified within the provided documentation
Optus says the problem may be that the device has been registered on a network before and that I need to contact the previous network to release the IMEI number.
I emailed the guy I bought it from and he says the product is new and imported from Hong Kong. Not much help I'm afriad.
Is there any way I can find out which network this device may have been previously registered to?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.
John
