Trackwheel

Has anyone had any trouble with the trackwheel on an 8700g I want to buy one but the trackwheel does not work any hints on what usually goes wrong and is it easy to fix?????

I have read in other threads that the unit may have to be opened and the trackwheel cleaned, but it may be something more than that. I would recommend either purchasing one new, or a fully working one off of eBay after following the recommended procedures below:

My advice is that if the trackwheel doesn't work, don't buy it. Have not heard of one failing on such a new device. Could be a sign that it was dropped or otherwise damaged.

I agree with the above. Don't buy one with a bad trackwheel.

My 8700g trackwheel broke after 13 months of heavy use. I took it apart to clean but discovered that it was broken. It cost too much to repair or replace so I switched to my wife's 8703e. Don't buy it! i my advice to you.
