I have a Verizon 8830. The plastic panel just below the keyboard where the Verizon logo is located, does not feel sturdy and easily gets pushes down when pressure is put on it. I just bought this phone three weeks ago and this panel just feels a little flimsy to me. Is anyone having the same issue and could it come off in the future?

Idk if its gonna come off but the whole phone feels loose and cheap. It cracks rattles and I can't wait for it to squeak.

Well if you owned a 7250 previously like I did then maybe you would consider the device a bit flimsy.

I'm just calling it from the total play in the assembly of the unit. there is not one place you can grab this phone so it don't make noise. Back panels creek, sides creek, front cover moves is loose so is the battery cover.

It is stories like these that make me grateful for my 8700g. ::singing to himself:: SOLID! SOLID AS A ROCK!!

I removed the battery cover and saw 4 screws. I gently tightened them with a special tiny star shaped screw driver. I got about 1/4 turn out each one. I was careful not to overtighten and break the plastic. I think about half of my squeaks are now gone. Oh well, it helped a little! :?

I just upgraded to a Sprint 8830 from a 7520 (Nextel). I have not noticed any sqeaks, rattles, or loose panels - but have had it for only 2 weeks now. As others have stated, this new BB seems to be fragile - at least that is my impression.

I have had no specific problems with the 8830, but it appears to be more of an suit coat pocket device as opposed to my old 7520 which was a tank - both in looks and durability. I am already taking precuations with the 8830 I would not have thought twice of with the 7520.

Maybe check out another new 8830 at a VZ store and compare it -yours may be broken?

Good luck.

Mine squeaks, but I'm also not grabbing it hard apart from when I just now tested to see if it squeaks. I mean..it's not really that big of a deal. My phone still calls, receives, emails, texts, etc..and I don't ever pay attention to/hear squeaks. When I first bought it, it was fine. Dropped it who knows how many times - I use it a lot - it's going to squeak. I guess if it really bothers you, you can get another phone - or we can just continue to complain about its build quality, but for me: functionality, slim profile > squeaking.

I tried pressing that panel on my 8830 and it's solid.

of all the small issues with my 8830 sturdiness is not one. I pushed on that front panel and its SOLID!! also no squeeks or rattles. the down side is nobody can hear me on phone calls!!

Ditto that...I just bought mine yesterday. The store received it 7/31. The whole device feels pretty solid to me...at least at this early stage.

the same types of comments were made about the 7100s when they came out. but, as people used them, they have held up fantastic. We have one user with his original 7100g that has been dropped so many times he lost count. But, it just keeps working.
Have faith.

Mine's solid too. Not a squeak to be heard, even after dropping it on my concrete driveway yesterday.. ouch... No weak spots, no noises. Feels nice and sturdy to me.

Mine is one of the flimsy ones... but it seemed to get that way after I took the battery cover off a few times and dropped it once.. I've had it about a month, and it was not flimsy when I first got it.
