Just set up my blackberry with Verizon, and added my gmail account. This is a personal account, i dont think i have the server. I checked out this thread but couldn't figure out the solution

http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8700-series-discussion/23794-duplicate-emails-my-8700-a.html

In gmail, forwarding is disabled, and POP is enabled (but not for all mail). I tried disabling POP altogether but was not able to send/receive mail.

Now, every time i send an email (from EITHER my blackberry or through gmail on firefox), i get a duplicate on my blackberry as if it was addressed to me. The email is sent to whomever I address it to, but like I said, i get the duplicate in my blackberry (but not a duplicate in my gmail on my laptop). I use gmail through firefox and dont use outlook.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

You need to have a filter set up to block e-mails sent FROM your GMail e-mail address from being sent to your BlackBerry. If you go to http://www.BlackBerryFAQ.com it will be listed as one of the FAQs on the front page.

Thanks for the reply. I saw that was an option but then I can't send emails to myself? Or can I be inventive about it...

the other problem i see with this is that every email that i send from now on is automatically trashed (i.e. it is no longer stored in my sent mail folder in gmail). Of course it will be on my blackberry, but that will be deleted after a certain number of days

Has anyone found a solution to losing all your sent emails when using gmail through a regular computer?

SOLUTION:

Log into your blackberry account through a web browser (here's verizons site, not sure of other: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw&locale=en)

Click on the "filters" button next to your gmail account.

create new filter and enter your address in the "From:" field

below click "do not forward messages to your device"

DONE.

This soloution can be found here:

However, you posted above that this method wouldn't allow you to send emails to yourself. That is true. Emails to yourself will not be sent to your handheld.
