Try the following two options:

How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ (http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/How_do_I_wipe_the_BlackBerry_using_Jl_Cmder%3F)

What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ (http://blackberryfaq.com/index.php/What_to_do_next_if_Jl_Cmder_will_not_connect_and_wipe)

Then reload the OS on the device

You probably had T-Mobiles latest 4.1 OS installed, which I believe was 4.1.0.377 (or something like that). That is the one that came with my 8700g before I installed the latest 8700 4.2.1 OS (which is 4.2.1.101). I would recommend upgrading to the 4.2.1.101 OS. The download and the instructions are located at the top of the 8700 forum in a sticky thread.

These were my complaints when I first upgraded to the 4.2 OS, but now I am used to it. However, if you do want to downgrade back you can download the older OS from my web site. The address to the direct file is http://jkccweb.dyndns.org/bb/os/8700_410346.exe.

No, wiping doesn't affect any numbers saved on the sim card.
