View Full Version : Should I keep my 7100G? Please be honest

When I went shopping for a new Cell phone I was looking to upgrade from my Nokia3200 (which had served me well). I was actually interested in the Razr because it's one of the few flip phones with no antennae and it offered the options I was looking for.

What I liked about the Nokia was it's ability, like most phones, to hold a decent amount of contact information. More importantly I liked the fact that it had distinctive ring tones. I have many types of contacts that I keep separtated. I own a few buildings, play in a band...etc so it's important to me to know who might be calling. It's the differance between getting out of bed to grab what might be an emergancy call, or just letting it go to voice mail. The internet thing on the 7100g is decent although not necessary for me. It's been a bit addictive already which may not be a good thing. ;)

I've been toying with the 7100g for almost a week and can't really find what else I'd be using it for. It's nice at sorting and showing contact info but all I really need is the basics.

I fear I've gotten a machine I just don't need.

If you are questioning if you will use the functions that the phone offers, go with something else. Unless you need email and internet forget it. Distinctive ringing is not an option on the 7100 series.

If you don't use the e-mail features of your 7100, then go get something else. You bought the wrong device.

Thanks for the info.

I feel that way as well but the guy at Cingular said I would be happier with the 7100G over the Razr. I'll be heading there today to switch.

The Razr is a nice phone (albeit with Motorola software, which hasn't been updated for 20 years) ;-) and if you need a good phone, get that. The BlackBerry is great for wireless e-mail, but does not have all of the bells and whistles and cameras that some phones do.

That's what I hear about the Motorola stuff...not the best. Although the Cingular rep at the store said that the Razr is the best Motorola has put out. He also told me I needed the Blackberry after telling him what was most important in a phone for me. ;)

I have had two new Motorola phones over the past 4 years including the V551 which is a close cousin to the Razar. It was the worst phone I ever used.

The biggest complaint I have of the Motorola phones is the totally illogical interface. It was developed by programmers not phone users.

It has a lot of bells and whistles, but is a poor choice for a phone IMHO. We have Nokias and Samsungs which, IMHO are much better as standard phones and much easier to navigate. I have the 7100T and love it.

Just my two cents worth.
