It says that it is taking on the OS just fine, but when it comes time to boot up, the hourglass screen is the only thing I get. Help?

let that hourglass spin for up to an hour. DO NOT pull the cable early or you will screw the goose and need to start over. It can easily take 20 minutes and 30-45 minutes are not unheard.

if you had large call logs or message logs, takes even longer.

Good luck.

Screw the Goose!?!

I would report you to the moderator but you are the moderator!

I suspect the OP has already unplugged the USB cable and the "Goose" is screwed! <vbg>

I am glad you got it figured out.

I can remembe, long ago whith my Nextel 6510 almost unplugging but you got to wait. The device, even todays are slow to load the OS and if you do not have alot of time, it is best to do it when you do. There is not hurrying up the process.

Welcome to Blackberry! I got family in Wildrose, WI. Nice country up there!

Personally, I always enjoyed a good pooch-screw. That's how we roll up here in New Jersey.

I just wiped my 8830, too.

Not by choice. The Key Stores ran out of password-attempts. Now I have to reset my voicemail password (since I'm an idiot and can't remember what I made it) as well as all of my speed dials, bookmarks,.... man, I set it up this time so that NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN! EVER!

I've always been fond of "wiping," but usually it's me arse and not my device!!

dtdt that's the beauty of the Blackberry - you should always have a backup on the computer and you won't have to redo anything. You can just restore it and everything is done. That's the whole point in the device. You can do everything remotely and back everything up.

If "content protection" is turned on in Options >Security Options >General Settings then a wipe can take up to several hours depending on how much data must be wiped.

I have never eaten a goose. I surely would never screw one though.

I always thought the figures of speech were I "screwed the pooch" and "my goose is cooked." But what do I know? I really don't want to do either, either!

He is clearly living in Wisconsin, but commutes from say, Milwaukee, to Chicago (like alot of people do) everyday in his Audi, to work for Boeing in Chicago, at night, with the Sears Tower in the background. Mystery solved! 8-)

Haha, damn close. Live in Milwaukee, work for an airline based there. Drive an Audi. Airline I work for flies all Boeing products (actually Douglas, but I won't digress).

operative word = "computer"

inoperative word = "mac"

MissingSync only helped restore most of my data; I still lost password vault, speed dials, various settings....

I think that mac support is seriously an afterthough by RIM. I know about PocketMac (sux for me) and I have MissingSync (great for me), but sometimes I wish I had a friggin' PC!!!! RIM should include a CD-ROM for Mac with their phones. Just a thought...

What part of Milwaukee, I was born and raised there, now living in STOOPID
Madison. I lived on the north side for a long while, but now my family lives in bay view, near the airport. Nice to meet a neighbor on the internet haha! 8-)

Live downtown, work at the airport... the only major airline based out of Milwaukee!

You fly for Midwest Express? Nice, I always fly Midwest, no matter where I'm going....unless of course, they dont fly to where I'm going....then I don't care who I fly.
