I just got this handset the other day and it says my available/free file space is 17459140 bytes out of a total of 47841280 bytes. I've got no photos or videos stored and the only third party app I installed is Beyond 411. Does this seem normal? Sorry for the newbie question. I just don't know how I could have so little space available.

The most memory Ive seen free is around 19000000. With no programs added in, whats the most I'm supposed to have free?

It seems like a lot of folks get paranoid about not having enough memory on the 8830. I did clean up some unwanted stuff of my phone but other than doing a hard reset once a week or so I don't sweat the small amount of free memory on the phone. As far as I can tell it has plenty of memory to operate properly and I haven't heard of any problems that have been attributed to low memory availability.

Especially when you can pickup MicroSD cards for so cheap... and even better, MicroSDHC cards... 32gb is plenty for me (when it surfaces)

My complaint isn't memory for photos and media, I have a 2 Gig card installed for that. My issue is when the memory gets so low it deletes emails from my inbox for space. I dont have alot of programs open or installed, and I don't want to have to worry about forgetting to hard reset once a week so I DONT lose those emails.
