Hi guys i'm new,
I just bought a 7100i and my phone does not connect to the radio. Everytime i try to connect it say "Timeout waiting for radio." My previous phone was an ic902.

it is a nextel device, try doing a master radio reset. go to options - security options - general settings, click the trackwheel and select master radio reset. Click yes to continue. It may ask for a password, If it does, enter 0000 (all zero's). Once the reset has been completed, pull the battery out of the device for about 10 seconds. Let me know if that works for you!

still same problem after master reset i tried connecting to the radio and after a while i would get "Timeout waiting for radio." any more help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, it is a stretch, but I have read on another forum that reseating the SIM fixed this issue for another user. I am not sure how it relates, but I guess it is worth a shot.

how do i reset the sim?

On the device. Pull the battery out. Along the right side you should see the SIM card. At the top of the SIM card there will be a pastic clip, Press that down slightly, and slide the SIM card up from the bottom of the phone. When replacing, make sure the side with the corner missing is on the upper left hand side and the metal contacts are face down. Replace the battery and let us know what the results are.

no luck =/ could it be that my sim card is 128k n its not compatible?

I dont think that is the issue. I would recommend contacting Nextel Support. Could possibly be a faulty device. I have not had the best experiences with Nextel Tech support. If you have about an hour and feel like being transferred 7 times. I would give them a call.

I hope it works out for you. Let us know what nextel says. If they are able to give you steps to fix it, post them here. That would help users in the future that run into this issue (y)

I talked to the nextel/sprint rep and what they told me was that they would have to change my service to nextel since i have a hybrid phone and would require to buy a BB plan with it.

I assumed you had a BB plan. A BB plan is a good thing to have with these devices. It gives you so much freedom to use the device. Without the BB plan it really restricts the BB. It may seem pretty costly, but what you get for the service is well worth the monthly cost. You have came to the right place for help. There are alot of knowledable people here that are more than willing to help. There have been a ton of topics covered already. I hope you can enjoy your blackberry experience as the rest of us do!
