I am not into colored phones and trust me, the red looks good. It is not that fake red or the raspberry red like the Pearl. It is real friggin red with black keys.. If I had not gotten hooked up today with a 8820 I might have gone for it... Heck, I might go for it down the road anyways...

I work for AT&T and i've already got dibs on one of the three from the first shipment we receive. I'm getting the red. Hell I used to carry a pink razor :X Takes a REAL man to carry something like that....lol. I think the red is stylish yet professional looking at the same time. Although I have been envious of you TMO guys with the titanium...so maybe i'll get both.

I have an 8700, 7100, 8800, 8820, 8300 (curve), and 8100 (pearl, in red and black)...i just can't get away from using my 8800 series more then the curve. It's just a better built device as far is the feel of it goes. The curve, even though it's an AMAZING phone, feels cheaply made and i think it is (that's why people have the dust starfield problems and all). IF they took all the entertainment features from the curve (camera, media player, speaker quality, etc...) and combined them with the 8820 AND made it 3G I would NEVER EVER purchase another cellphone until they upgrade networks again. Unfortunately, it'll never happen, which is why i have just about every good blackberry made. Right now i'm going back and forth between the curve and the 8820 just because it's nice to have the wifi when i'm over seas and i don't wanna rack up an insane data bill, because WiFi is EVERYWHERE in Europe. I also like the black housing on the 8820 vs the 8800. :D

I'll post pictures when I get them in. I am half and half on if i'm going to just go ahead and get both colors, but i probably will knowing the tech nerd i am :(

There is DEFINITELY a $100 rebate on this. I'm looking at the rebate form from the AT&T website and the 8310 is on it. I printed it out so that it doesn't somehow mysteriously disappear. ;-)

You're going to need to print the rebate form and check it out yourself. There's a lot of small print. I'm not a lawyer, and I know from my own experience that that it's in the small print that they get you.

Otherwise, why have a rebate at all? Just do an instant rebate UNLESS you can disqualify customers for not crossing every t and dotting every i.

All I know is that I'm getting the rebate because my contract expired and they don't have me locked up. Also, I'm pretty sure you have to sign up for the unlimited data plan too (at ~$30/month).

I live in Cal. They are only a rip now for those that don't claim them. With the systems in place now I always get mine. And that is how the price is lowered for me - by the ones that don't claim them. This will cause prices to rise. Just like JC's comment below.

it will work both ways, but manufacturers' rebates will less be passed along by the retailer, because most retailers will not go through the hassle and paperwork, hence it won't be offered as a discount.

With a rebate, it is $$ out of the manufacturers' pockets. Instant rebates will mean less overall $$ volume for the retailers.

Maddog this is your dog buddy. Here's the math. I got 10 bones that cost me $4 each to buy. I sell them for $5 each. Now I go and give rebates. My history shows only 5 people will claim them. So I offer a 1 dollar rebate. If I have instant rebates, I now net $40. If I don't and my rebate is a $1 , then 5 people get them for $4.00 and 5 people get them for 5. My gross is 45 with a 5 dollar profit. Some win and some lose. With this law, some rebates die. Cal has 13% of the population. This is not a good thing for all consumers. Not an easy choice.

I'm just now seeing some of the cool things that the wi-fi enable you to do, so it would be nice to have that TOO. But the only way to get the GPS and the wi-fi is to go with the 8820, but then you forego the camera.

I'm now forced to decide on 2 out of 3 (GPS, wi-fi, camera) between the 8820 and 8310. Hmmm .... Damn. It would be nice to have the wi-fi, but since this is my personal BB, the ability to take spur of the moment pictures has to be a higher priority, right?

Besides, from holding both the 8820 and 8300, the Curve felt much better and for some reason, the keys on the 8820 really felt awkward to me and I'm thinking I'd really have problems with it.

Get both. Although they aren't that easy to switch off due to the position of the SIM card. You will get used to either keyboard within weeks.

I had the 8300 and really loved it, especially being able to have a pretty good camera with you at all times. I sold it and got the 8820. I will say though, and I know it's a matter of opinion, but I personally like the keyboard on the 8820 more than the 8300. It just feels more durable. The entire build of the 8820 feels much more sturdy than the 8300, but of course that's only a matter of opinion.

I just received word of a delay in the launch from 10/11 to 10/16. I received the following email from a sales consultant I know in a local ATT store and a confirmation of the delay from our Global Account Manager with ATT. I'd be interested to see if anyone hears something similar.

We were just made aware of a delay in product shipment for both color SKU's of the Curve 8310 from RIM which will result in us delaying the product launch for all channels to Tuesday, 10/16. The good news is there are plenty of Curve 8300's in the field and in the warehouses to accommodate this shift in launch. Supply Chain had already set the 8310 Titanium to populate orders for stores when their 8300 stock is w/in replenishment need. The Red 8310's will be proactively shipped upon launch.

As a matter of fact, I sent in 2 rebates to AT&T for my wife's Razr, and my son's Sync. The waited 8 weeks, then sent me a letter stating that some of my documentation was missing...BS! I sent in photocopies and finally got my $$, but I am old enough and cynical enough be believe that the manufacturers are under no pressure to actually deliver the rebates....many of us forget, etc about them...

Now wait a minute.....no launch until 10/16?? I am about to just go get an 8300 or an 8320 and blow off AT&T. Or maybe I will wait for the next generation Blackjack that I read about today....

With all the B.S. that's been on here, the most rational thing I've heard so far is the one I heard from my own local store. They've been shipped and are in transit.

Everyone I've talked to at my local store says that they have very few details on new releases. Products tend to show up whenever AT&T decides to distribute them and that there's no grand scheme to it.

No one's camped out and counting down for this like for the iPhone (except for boobybabymommy), so I'll go back to what I said before and like Yogi would have said; it'll get there when it gets there. :razz:

We have come and gone past what reputable rumor contributors have said it to be, now we're sitting on three dates, today, the 16th, and the 24th, which nobody has confirmed. Supposedly multiple people have talked to stores who said they know they're shipped and in transit to the stores, but I call BS on that, every release, and we've all gone through them together, they're available online before the stores, and they typically ship these to the stores overnight. Additionally, store personnel never know they're in transit until they show up to the stores... ugh, I dislike misinformation. IF they were shipped to the stores, someone will have their hands on one by COB today, otherwise that rumor is false.

What you've seen on this thread are leaked internal documents and communications. I don't honestly believe that there is an "Online Store" that haves it available yet, so far i made a bunch of phone calls and No One had said anything about when are they going to be in, thats letstalk, amazon, wirefly, buy.com, etc. Including my local AT&T store and as for my friend's store well she went to Puerto Rico on a Vacation for 2 weeks so I wont be hearing anything from that store in the mean time.

We sell all high-end cell phones. I have to admit, I do think that the Crimson red must be one of the best looking phones I have ever seen. The titanium to me seems more like a puke green - gray combo. The T-Mobile 8320 gold in my opinion is pretty aweful looking too.

I think its so that way ppl gets upset and so that way they get everyone anxious thats my closest guess, besides they still have a bunch of 8300 i bet they want to get rid of those before they get the replacements.

No - this is a great color red that cannot tell exactly in pictures.

Look at the new corvette in metallic maroon - it looks exactly like that. A very deep color, large amount of metallic tint to it.
