Magmic makes some of the best games available for the Blackberry platform. The graphics are always great and the price isn’t too high either.
I recently purchased two of their games. Disco Bowling and Pro Golf Paradise. I’ll start with a review of Disco Bowling and get to Pro Golf Paradise another day.
The game opens with a menu. You have the option of CONTINUING a previously saved game, starting NEW GAME, viewing the HIGH SCORES, seeing the INSTRUCTIONS or viewing the ABOUT information.
If you choose NEW GAME you be asked if you want to make it a ONE PLAYER or TWO PLAYER GAME. For the purpose of this review I’ll choose the one player option.
You can then select either a “Brotha” (male player) or “Sistah” (female player.)
You can then select the ball you’d like to bowl with. There are seven choices.
After you’ve chosen your ball the game begins and you are brought to your lane.
You can use the track wheel to line up the bowler (left or right). In the upper left corner you see the frame you are on. In the lower left corner the number of pins left standing. In the bottom right corner you’ll see what ball you’re on for the frame.
When you’re ready to throw you press either the space bar or click the trackwheel. This starts the power meter. When the meter reaches the level of power you want to throw with you press the space bar or click the trackwheel again to stop the power meter.
Then the aiming meter appears. You then press the space bar or click the trackwheel when you want to stop the aiming meter at the proper spot. Your ball is then thrown.
After the pins are knocked down you’ll see your score.
Once you’ve completed all ten frames the game ends.
This is a good bowling game and one that’s fun to play. It’s fairly easy to play and can be played alone or against a friend.
I give this game 4/5 Berries.
Pros: Fun, easy to play, good graphics, cheap.
Cons: Small graphics.
