Default REVIEW: T-Mobile Leather Pouch Case for 8700 Series - 05-11-2006, 03:18 PM

Product: T-Mobile Leather Pouch Case for 8700 Series
Price: $34.99
URL: www.wirelessground.com

Review:
This case comes in a T-Mobile plastic ziploc bag with a T-Mobile advertisement insert. It is a soft leather, with T-Mo-esque holes in the bottom portion of the leather. The interior is lined with thin grey felt, not too thick. The belt clip is very nice. It is a leather wrapped, non-removeable, ratchet style clip that fits very low profile and is comfortable when worn. It stops at 45 degree angles to allow for many positions for carry. The elastic sides grip the case well, preventing any wiggling around or slipping out.

The problem with this case is the magnet flap. While it closes well and relatively securely when no device is in it, when the device is in, it barely holds together. It seems as though it 1) does not reach well enough to the proper place for a snug fit, which may change with a little breaking in, and 2) the magnet used needs to be a bit stronger to hold more securely. Even so, the device is held in well by the case itself, and I seriously doubt there will be any slipping out, unless maybe if the wearer has to run for something, then just maybe, but unlikely.

Rating: I give this case 4 out of 5 Berries.

Conclusion: The design overall is simple, basic, but functional. The sleeper magnet works perfectly, regardless of orientation when inserted. The style is all T-Mo, the hole pattern and the logo on front, but that magnet flap is just not good enough for my liking. In time, maybe it will stretch out a bit and make a more solid connection, we'll see. The 5th Berry could be achieved with a better magnet flap system

Pros: T-Mo carrier specific for those interested, sleeper magnet works well, nice low-profile leather ratcheting belt clip, inexpensive.

Cons: T-Mo carrier specific, front flap does not fit correctly.

Nice review, I have one small and maybe stupid question.
Does this case have a "sleeper" magnet or does the flap do it?

Thanks...
I must have overlooked that, but I gave the disclaimer about it being a stupid question.

Yes, you did. Way to cover yourself! Granted, I should have put it in the body of the post as well - I'll add it to avoid confusion.

This case looks very similar to the Gizmoskin 8700 case. Even the belt clip is the same.

This case is not OEM You should remove that. It is totally aftermarket.

Other than that nice review.

Did you read the review?

"Spring sale - $19.95"

What do you want a case from the $5 and under store?

And even at $34.95 when compared to Vaja, Piel Frama and others it's still cheap.
