Default Best Skins Ever RIM BlackBerry 8100 Pearl Total Body Skin - 10-21-2006, 02:31 PM

Product: Best Skins Ever - RIM BlackBerry 8100 Pearl Total Body Skin
Rating: 8.75/10
Cost: $8.99 shipped
Difficulty: 2/10
Link: Best Skins Ever RIM BlackBerry 8100 Pearl Total Body Skin

Pros:
- Makes the Pearl more "grippier"
- I can't tell that the shield is there
- Easy to apply
- Cheap, strong (I tried poking it with a sharp edge)

Cons:
- Not exactly the "perfect" fit but does a fairly great job
- Does not cover the right/left sides
- Does not completely cover the bottom or top
- For those who did the "sound mod", I could not poke holes through the shield. Sound is "OEM" again :(

Overall I would recommend this shield. It is approx. three times cheaper than ShieldZone granted ShieldZone has a lifetime warranty. I am not too worried about the uncovered areas because I already ordered a Seidio Jet Black Silicone Skin (hoping it arrives Tues/Wed).

You might be able to poke holes through the shield if you heat up the end of whatever it is you're using for poking the hole!! Just warm it up over a candle flame and it should work. Follow this advice at your own (and the Pearl's) risk, of course - it's just a suggestion

You have to wet them a solution of water and a few drops of mild soap. Their web site provides instructions for this.

BTW- remove the battery from the Pearl first, try to position it when installing the skins so that fluid doesn't enter into any openings, have a towel ready to take up the excess fluid as you press it out.

Use denatured alcohol (if you can find it) (the best) or use rubbing alcohol (not as good but still works).

I will not recommend using soap and water which so many people recommend you to do because if you get some in your phone, you have to wait for a few hours for it to dry out before you can put the battery back in.

Alcohol dry out faster so if you get some in the phone, you only have to wait for few minutes.

i also have this skin on my pearl and i am happy with it. its only about 8$ and if you take your time applying the skin, you wont notice it. so the cool shiny pearl will stay the cool shiny pearl and not some random mobile covered in a big and non transparent skin/case..

yes you have, but just take your time, dont use too much water/soap and dont turn the pearl on right after you applied the skin. should not be a problem..

i also bought a skin for my ipod. that one is even better

Isn't it great? $8 for the skin compared to $25 for SheildZone. Though SZ offers lifetime warranty, you can purchase 3 of the full body skins for less than $25. I don't even think I'll be needing a 2nd full body skin anytime soon.

Wow this sounds great. You've convinced me, but I'll take secrecyguy's suggestion and use the alcohol instead of soap and water.

I ordered the body guardz for my BlackBerry Pearl. The package will be arriving today.

What is your experience with body guardz on your Pearl?

Howe well do you like it compare to others?

Thanks!

They are pretty easy to put on and yes you will still be able to remove the battery cover after it is on,,,,,,

Will this really protect my Pearl from falls? Is this pretty much the "best" protection out there? I like how you can barely notice it.

Someone brought a old topic back to life!

Well, anyway, since someone did, I decided to comment what he said in his original post since I have Best Skins Ever and a Blackberry Skin Case for my phone.

Well, probably so but not much or hardly at all. I got a Blackberry skin case and that works the best.

It depends on the person.

If you got everything correct and perfect than it will fit perfectly.

That's one of the disadvantage but I got a skin case so it doesn't matter.

That I disagree. It covers more than the Invisible Shield from Shield Zone.

When you look at the websites of the two it clearly shows that the invisibleShield covers more. Although the BSE is a better deal expecially if you are going to put another cover on it like many people are.

Arrow great product - 12-31-2007, 09:57 PM

The BSE is a great product! Installing it on a phone with a lot of curves can be tricky and very time consuming but when all said and done it truly enhances the grip and protection of the phone! I recommend getting it even if you use a slip case to keep the face oil off the screen.

Thumbs up Best Skins Ever have a loyal customer here - 02-05-2008, 04:44 PM

I tried to order skins for my 8130 and for my fiancee's Sansa E280 from Invisble shield. I really tried. Long boring story that ends a month later with my money being re-funded and nothing ever have been shipped. Based on this forum I decided to try BSE. I purchased 4 skins (for less than the two I had tried to get from the invisibles). They arrived 5 days later (that includes a weekend). Went on without much fuss [stop freaking out about using water will ya]. In the process BSE sent me the full skin instead of the screen only one I had paid for. I emailed them about it and they informed me that the screen only was the same cutout as it is on the full one and that I should just use that one. Or I can skin the whole thing at no extra $$. They were on the ball and helpful. These things are tough as nails and the company is responsive and fast. There was NO COMPARISON on customer service to the invisibles. I'll never stray.

That is all.

Was a little tough to get it positioned and to stick to the contours during the install, but has been working great for me for about a month so far, thanks for the review

Followed the instructions to a tee. Not bad, 8700C took about 15 minutes. I was careful to let each separate piece dry a little before installing the next. Looks nice but definitely doesn't cover 100%. The sides are uncovered. The pieces fit well. Now I just have to try to cut a custom piece to cover the extended battery cover which they do not make. Haven't tried to cut it yet but I'm wondering how to do it without stretching the material. Instructions recommend xacto knife and scissors.
DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED
Update***
Had a chance to contact BSE Customer Service via email and was very impressed. Got an answer within minutes and then follow up action within the hour. BSE Customer Service EXCEEDED my expectations. Not typical! Thank You BSE.
